Abstract:

With the advent of an increase in the incidence of nosocomial infections, there has been a proportionate increase in the sale and use of instant hand sanitizers containing 62% ethyl alcohol. The hand sanitizers containing alcohol indicate that a few drops on the hands will achieve 99.99% killing of germs on the hands. The evidence for this killing rate has nothing to do with the use of these hand sanitizers since no evidence exists nor has been presented to justify this killing rate on the hands when used as directed. Experimental designs will be submitted in support of this contention.

Keywords: nosocomial, hand sanitizer, germs.
